Other uses for Christmas stamps and Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder

The first two cards feature the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder - I wanted to make them an alternate flower from the poinsettias, and it works! The vase card was made by Sue T. She stamped an ornament from the "Delightful Decorations" stamp set, cut off the bottom, and make the other images in the set become flowers for the "vase." What a versatile stamp set!

The last card I made with "Holiday Best," a hostess stamp set. I love how the embossing plate matches the image in that stamp.

Happy Fall Friday Samples

These first two were inspired by Diana Gibbs' daisies. I wanted to make sunflowers, and the Daisy die works great!

Some bright colors for a dreary day...

Here in Philly it's been a gray, dreary day. I'm thankful for the colorful foliage I saw while driving around today, and for the pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin cream cheese muffin I enjoyed with my son Elihu and my friend Heather at Starbucks:0) Here are some cards to brighten and inspire your weekend!  Happy crafting!

Extra Special Christmas Card Samples!

Not to wish fall away, but I hope these Christmas cards inspire your weekend stamping! I know I won't be stamping this weekend - I'll be in a wedding! My dear sister is getting hitched. It's a good thing too, I'm getting dusty durango'd out:0) We have used that color over and over - invites, favors, placecards, etc., etc., etc. It's been really fun to paper craft for the wedding.

So card 1 is from the Fall Fest event I attended in Sept. We had a lesson in sponging/masking with expert Michelle Zindorf. The last three I made, using Serene Snowflakes from the Holiday mini catalog.

I got Karen Barber cards!!! *sing song voice*

My downline Kristin finally got a chance to pass on two swaps that Aunt Karen made for me from convention this summer. What a treat to have these in my sample box!!

Ahhhh fall...

Seems like it's really here!!! I've been stampin' up a storm of leaves around here. I think Lexicon of Leaves is one of my favorite sets right now! You won't find it in Stampin' Up!'s current catalog, BUT it is on the "dormant list" and is still available for $25.95!!

Card 1 I embossed some of the leaves in gold. Colors are Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango.

Card 2 I embossed the leaves in gold on water color paper and water colored them with my aqua painter. I also watercolored the sky in Bashful Blue. Colors are Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Bashful Blue. This card layout was very much inspired by a recent blog post by my sideline Cindy Lawrence!

Card 3 I tried the (smelly) "Colored Soot" technique. It involves brayering More Mustard ink on glossy cardstock, then touching the cardstock surface to a lit candle flame. Very smelly and a bit nerve-wracking, but a pretty cool look! After the flame leaves a soot covered surface, you stamp in it (More Mustard ink), and spray it with an acrylic sealer. That part is also pretty smelly, but I'm glad I tried it!
